About the Vibes Project
We all have vibes that are a normal part of how we socialize and navigate the world. We are nerdy, hip, sensitive, dramatic, trendy, just to name a few. These vibes are common and obvious, yet not well understood. I want to know:
What’s at the root of our vibes?
Are they innate or learned?
What can vibes help us learn about ourselves?
What can we learn from history, science, and culture?
This is a passion project that is self-funded. My focus is research and sharing what I’m learning about vibes and their role in everyday life. I’m not a scientist or an academic. I am, however, science-literate and dedicated to communicating with clarity and empathy.
I believe that by understanding our vibes, we can understand ourselves.

About Lee LeFever
I have been a professional explainer since 2007. My company, Common Craft, was a pioneer of the “explainer video” genre, and I wrote the seminal book on the subject: The Art of Explanation. My explainer videos have received 10s of millions of online views.
The Vibes Project is the biggest, most fascinating explanation project of my life. I’ve been researching and writing notes for years. Today, I’m ready to share and get feedback.
My goal is to explain human nature from a new perspective that recognizes the complicated nature of humans and the possible sources of our differences.
